These pesky expansion joints need to be fixed and will have westbound I-90 traffic crawling along for weeks. (Photo courtesy of WSDOTs *phenomenal* Flickr page.)

My latest venture in aggregate/link journalism will be centered around the impending closure of several westbound lanes of the I-90 bridge in Seattle. Of course, it isn’t really my venture, I’m just starting the organizational process this week, which consists of asking a whole bunch of Seattle news outlets to use the Twitter hashtag I suggested (#I90bridge) and use the Publish 2 tag I suggested (I-90 bridge).

Myself and the #wanews crew had considerable success with this a while back, as anyone who keeps up with my blog may remember. This situation is a little different: For one thing we know it’s coming (unlike the floods) and for another, a lot of us have done this before, so it should go a lot smoother.

For anyone who would like to get involved with this project, it’s really simple: Just use the Twitter hashtag (#I90bridge) if you’re linking there, or sign up for Publish 2 and join the Northwest News group (you can e-mail me and I’ll let you in). There really aren’t any requirements other than: Be a journalist (‘hood blogs and freelancers count) and don’t abuse the tags by posting too many of your own links.

More information can be found over on my News Collaboration blog.
