I’m one of those annoying people who swears he doesn’t have enough time in his day to get everything done. There are a lot of remedies for that, but the one I always come back to is to make more time by staying up later and getting up earlier.
The former is easy; the latter is a pain in the ass, and I manage to mess it up pretty regularly by doing this one stupid thing: hitting my snooze button.
The snooze button is one of the stupidest inventions related to modern technology, and yet I use it all the time. We all do. I used it just the other day, when I set my alarm for 5 a.m., hit snooze like 20 times and didn’t actually roll out of bed until 6 a.m. In doing so, I robbed myself of the extra hour I was trying to gain and the extra sleep I would have had if I just would’ve set my alarm for later or pushed it back when I woke up initially. It was a lose-lose.
So there are a few things I’m going to work on in the next few weeks to make this whole situation better:
- Try to go to bed earlier, a few times each week.
- If I wake up really early (like 4 a.m.) and feel awake, just get out of bed.
- When the alarm goes off, get up or go back to sleep. Don’t lay there trying to decide for an hour.
These goals are probably pointless because I’m about to have a kid. But you can use them.
